About

Hello and welcome to the R.E.A.C.H. website (Recreational Experience and Creativity with Harvard)! REACH is a year-long mentoring program for kids with special needs, meeting at the newly rennovated gym in Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School each Saturday during the school year from 1-3pm.

For 10 weeks each semester, a Harvard student-a “big buddy”-is paired with a “little buddy.” Each Saturday, the two hours are divided between arts and crafts (painting gourds Halloween weekend, making popsicle stick reindeer before winter break, making gingerbread houses, and more) and gym (Red Light, Green Light, Duck Duck Goose, dance parties, and lots of soccer and basketball). Between art and gym each week, REACH usually invites a Harvard group to perform for REACHlings, be it a cappella, break dancing, or African drumming. Plenty of healthy snacks are provided to everyone just before cleanup at 3pm.

Every semester, REACH also plans a large outing – either a field day featuring a cakewalk, volleyball, and other outdoor activities, as well as a trip to a children-friendly museum in Cambridge or in Boston.
